Welling United are delighted to welcome back goalkeeper Kai McKenzie-Lyle.
The 27-year old spent the 2022/23 season at Park View Road, making 16 league appearances, including a memorable performance in a 1-1 draw at Ebbsfleet United which saw him save a penalty deep in injury time to preserve a point with nine men.
McKenzie-Lyle made his professional debut for Barnet after emerging through the youth ranks with the Bees, before being snapped up by Premier League giants Liverpool in 2018.
The stopper spent two years at Anfield, representing the Reds’ U23s, before moving on to Cambridge United in 2020 where he made one league appearance, while taking in a loan spell with Chelmsford City.
Following his spell with the Wings, he has since represented Folkestone Invicta and spent last season with Oxford City and has now returned to Welling to provide competition for the number one spot alongside Freddie Norman.
A Guyana international, McKenzie-Lyle has earned 13 caps for his country and even scored with a header on his debut in a 3-2 defeat to Suriname, before saving a penalty against Jamaica in his second appearance.
