Welling United begin their defence of the Kent Senior Cup begins with a second-round trip to VCD Athletic on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

The Wings lifted the historic trophy for a fourth time in April thanks to a 1-0 final victory over Ebbsfleet United at Priestfield Stadium and their journey in the 2025/26 rendition of the competition will commence with a visit to the Oakwood.

Having received a bye into the second round as holders, Welling will now take on VCD after they secured a first-round victory over Folkestone Invicta on penalties last month.

THE OPPOSITION

VCD currently sit in 12th place in the Isthmian League South Wast Division having won promotion via the SCEFL play-offs last season.

They have won two, drawn four and lost two of their eight league games played, so far.

VCD come into the game off the back of a 4-1 defeat at Wingate & Finchley in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

CUP HISTORY

The Wings have lifted the Kent Senior Cup on four occasions and come into this year’s competition as holders having lifted the trophy at Priestfield in April .

Their other three final victories came in 1986, 1999 and 2009.

VCD meanwhile have never reached the final of the Kent Senior Cup, but have won the Kent Senior Trophy on two occasions – in 2006 when they beat Tunbridge Wells on penalties and in 2009 with a 3-2 win over Erith & Belvedere after extra time.
