Welling United are proud to announce that, as of June 2026, the club will begin a partnership with Danson Sports FC to create a new generation of players and supporters for the Wings with the launch of Welling United Youth & Development Football Club.
Over the last six months, discussions and relationships have developed to co-create an exciting new club and model that will allow ‘football for all’ and for the Wings community to grow significantly, as we build what will be the biggest club in Bexley.
The merger will see all of Danson Sports’ teams transition to Welling United, including facilities, kits, branding, social media platforms, advertising and much more.
It is anticipated that at least 60 youth teams, along with a pathway to potential first-team football for boys and girls at U18s, U21s & U23 level. There will be a commitment to develop staff and volunteers, while every player will receive a FREE Welling United season ticket for themselves and a parent or carer.
Wings CEO, Paul Barnes, said: “We are looking forward to working with Steve Rayner and Dave Kelly, who have both dedicated over 20 years towards establishing Danson Sports as one of the most family- orientated football clubs around. To be able to bring such people into our club and community is very special.
“The next step in the process of building, not just a club, but a community, is under way and we are looking forward to welcoming so many families, who we want to see flourish both on and off the pitch, as we prioritise developing people first and players as a result.”
