Welling United take their first steps in the Velocity Cup as they host Folkestone Invicta in the third round on Tuesday evening at Park View Road (7.45pm).
The cup game will see new boss Ryan Maxwell take charge of the Wings for the very first time with the game providing him the perfect opportunity to take a look at his squad in preparation for his first league clash at Billericay Town on Saturday afternoon.
Greg Cundle will remain unavailable as he continues his recovery from a dislocated shoulder, while Luke Allen will also be assessed after sitting out of Saturday defeat to Cray Wanderers with a knock.
CUP HISTORY
The Velocity Cup, also known as the Alan Turvey Trophy, serves as the league cup competition for the Isthmian League featuring clubs from across the Premier, North, South East, and South Central divisions.
Premier Division sides enter at the third round stage with games going straight to penalties in the event of a draw.
Founded in 1975, the competition was named after former Isthmian League Chairman, Alan Turvey, in 2015 after he stepped down from his position after nearly 60 years of involvement in football.
THE OPPOSITION
Folkestone are enjoying a strong season, so far, currently sitting in top spot of the Isthmian League Premier Division table having won 11, drawn three and lost just one of their 15 games played.
They come into the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to AFC Totton in the FA Trophy on Saturday.
Invicta have confirmed that they will be fielding a team of academy players for this cup tie.
